Pods Swimming is a year round aquatics education center that has been serving Providence, Rhode Island and surrounding communities for over nine years. We quickly established ourselves as the premier learn-to-swim resource in the area, specializing in infant and toddler swimming (six months to three years) as well as programs for all age groups, including adults and swim team.
ABOUT US
Pods Swimming originated in 1996 as the Ocean State Squids Learn to Swim program at Brown University. Coach Susan Pascale joined Squids in 1996, and Jamie Pascale joined in 1999; under world-class swimming coach Joshua Stern, they focused on teaching children proper stroke techniques at a young age. They were also encouraged to support each child in reaching his or her full potential, regardless of swimming level.
Susan and Jamie built Pods into a solid program for the USS swimming club, the Bay, and Ocean State Squids. From 1996 until 2007, they provided the starting block for countless top swimmers in New England. When the Brown University pool closed in 2007, Pods separated from Squids and became its own swim school. From 2007 to the present, Pods has demonstrated ongoing excellence, providing this same foundation for Gator Swim Club.
Susan, Jamie, and Pods' other experienced staff continue to focus on giving youth the proper stroke instruction they need to build strong swimmers and the encouragement they need to reach their full potential.
MISSION
The ultimate goal of Pods Swimming is for children to be safe in the water, love the water, and enjoy swimming for a lifetime. We work with each child individually to provide the best possible learning environment to reach his or her highest potential.
We teach without flotation devices; children at all levels will swim unassisted. We believe this allows them to feel and move around in the water in the most natural position. Pods Swimming aims to teach children proper stroke techniques as soon as possible.
Pods Swimming believes in upholding the highest professional standards for swimming and aquatic safety instruction. We do this by being active in the nation's top swimming associations and keeping our staff trained, certified, and current in best practices and safety.
